Can anybody tell me who the flipping hell the Romance Divas are, and not only that but what is their problem? Talk about fanning the flames over, erm, let’s see… NOTHING.

Lucinda Campbell whoever you are, you’re a f*cktard.

This was to Mrs Giggles, who replies with:

Talk about fuckwittery of the highest order.

This comment here by Jax (yet another member of The Romance Divas) was the one that nearly made me piss myself laughing:

Lord, God, save me from narcissistic arseholes who think their shit don’t smell.

Of course authors will quote them, they are Harriet Klausner-type reviewers who think that every book written is the best thing since sliced bread. They’re that particularly funky breed of reviewer, who have never read a bad book. Evah.

Mrs G didn’t actually attack them, or anybody else. They kinda came out of the woodwork, in that scary Rabid Fangirly way that creeps me out.

That Lucinda chick kept harping on about how cowardly Mrs G was and that she should out herself. WTF? Where the fuck has she been? Outer effing Mongolia?

I tell you, their fuckwittery was awe-inspiring.

Mrs G had this to say in response to Jax’s comment:

Nice one-liner dude.

Kristen, also another member of the Divas weighs in with her particular brand of fucktardiness:

Jesus, I tell ya, if it was raining brains, some of these amoebas wouldn’t even get wet.

(Sorry Mrs G, but the devil on my shoulder made me do it. *g*)

Right, I’m off to bed, it’s been a loooong day.

“In fact, we have a rather huge staff and we have editors to make sure there are inconsistencies in data.”

Tickled to know they make sure of those inconsistencies. LOL

Well, I sense something is not koser. I can’t imagine several authors getting into such an uproar about something if there’s no basis to their charges. I do know that I’ve never submitted a story or book for Mrs. Giggles to review and never will. But what I “sense” aside, if I find out that she has indeed posted a review of something I’ve written, then and truly only then, can I come to my own final conclusion about this matter.

Oh, Karen, I love it when you say “knobhead”. *g*

I think Mrs G and the RD site admin handled it well – it was a miscommunication, they air kissed, all is good (or at least, quiet).

What I don’t understand is the author who’s still hung up about her bad review and is taking every comment so personally. And responding not in a good way. Not even in a funny, bad way.

Poor reader-reviwer-bloggers. If the fangirls don’t get you, the author groups will. 😉

Romance Divas have a forum for writers of romance that like to claim that they are one of the biggest sites on the net for writers – they’ve been around a few years nowhere near as long as Mrs G. Strangely if you ever visit their forum you notice that it is only a handful of folks who post frequently – they might well have over a thousand members but I would say most of those are lapsed. They also provide free workshops with authors – the take up can sometimes be less than stellar – maybe one or two comments on a thread if that.

Oh good. I thought it was just me. But the whole time I was reading their little set-to I was asking myself who the fuck are these people and where did they come from? Damn, it was like watching a pack of jackals on the Discovery Channel. Not very pretty and really downright stupid.

    Romance Divas?

    Divas? Please.

I found out about the Romance blogging and reviewing community while trying to find a favorite author’s backlist. I knew about AAR, and I had been using some of their lists to help me find “similar” books, but then I stumbled across Smart Bitches while googling something or other.

From there it was on to Mrs. Giggles and Maili.

Smart and funny people who passionately love books (and TV and Movies) and who express their opinions. What could be wrong with that? (And Maili convinced me to start blogging too. Such a bad influence.)

Therefore, I’ve never understood this craptastic fangirl behavior that seems to live on messageboards and forums. “You’re just jealous!” Can you even say that without whining like an eight year old? “We don’t tear people down!” Unless you’re not part of our super secret girls only club.

    What complete nonsense. Really.

(Especially since the whining ones were the one who Started the episode by whining about the bad reviews they got from Mrs. Giggles. Hee hee.)

I was wondering if I needed a staff.

I’d never been to the divas site before, and realized 1. their reviews get kisses **eye roll** and 2. they gave a Cheryl Holt 4 1/2 of them. It’s definitely not going on my sidebar.

Good grief. I’m almost sorry I followed the link. I know people get nutty about bad reviews (and good reviews sometimes), but this argument degenerated into silliness pretty fast. The whole rally-the-troops-and-start-the-name-calling thing…yeah, not good.

Romance Divas is looking for publicity. Look how many went to their site just to see what the fuss was all about. There’s a reason that they are relatively unknown. Don’t fall into their trap to lure visitors to their piddling little site.

There is no point, not ever, in sending your damned book to Mrs. Giggles if you aren’t prepared for a bad review.

For an author to take it to Mrs. Giggles’ blog like that was ridiculous, embarrassing and completely unprofessional.

It makes us all look bad.

    Hello,
I’m Lucinda Campbell, and I very much enjoyed your put down of me. It just goes to show how people with small minds have to make up obscenities to express themselves because of their rather small and limited vocabularies.
Best wishes and no hard feelings.

Dylan, I’m still trying to get over the fact that she felt the need to start a fight with Mrs Giggles of all people. I’m pretty sure they just wanted the increased blog traffic, nobody can be that stupid…. OK, that’s a lie, yes they can, as evidenced by the fucktards involved.

I’m probably going to be bashed over the head with a club for coming over here, but I just had to follow the link from Mrs. Giggles site to see what all the fuss was about over here. 🙂

First off, I felt it was very ill mannered of the author to make a fuss the way she did. And it was just as ill mannered for RD to come over and start making comments as well. I don’t blame Mrs. Giggles for not wanting to be apart of RD because she’s a reviewer. I’m also a reviewer, but I was apart of RD before I began reviewing books.

RD does have some clique issues, but it’s no different than everywhere else in the world. Work place, school, hell even my house has cliques at times and there’s only three of us!

Just like you ladies and if there are gents here are doing now with your clucking so do the Divas on the RD board. It’s a place for writers to go. We talk, chat, laugh, cry and get each other through some very rough spots in our lives. We set goals and are encouraged to follow through. Something alot of us don’t have at home and that’s support. Without RD I seriously doubt I would have ever gotten published. I wouldn’t have found some wonderful critique partners or those that understand grammar. (Something if you haven’t noticed, I don’t get.)

So bash individuals all you want, but I find it hard to read posts about a group as a whole. They have been really great to writers that are interested in writing. And they stick beside eachother like no other group I’ve ever seen.

Anyway, it’s three a.m here, I’m tired. Throw tomatoes tomorrow. For now, I sleep.

I’ve been reviewed four times in the last month or so by Mrs. Giggles. Not all raves of course. I sent her two books in a masochistic moment, she bought two on her own. I thanked her for her reviews. Her emails to me were pleasant. My shocking point? I’m a Romance Diva. Why do I feel like I’m admitting to liking Barry Manilow or something more loathsome. Oh, wait, I hate Barry Manilow. It’s just a spot where writers and aspiring writers try to help one another. Not an insane secret society, despite the diva word. I belong to an insane secret society. Middle-aged wannabe writers who should be working instead of following ridiculous threads on the internet.

5 Reasons I’m thankful Mrs. Giggles reviewed my book.

    1. Sold 35 copies of the book she reviewed the day her review went up.

    2. Sold a total of 30 of my backlist on the same day.

    3. Sold a total of 50 some odd of the newest book in that series.

    4. She bought my book in order to review it.

    5. Got more hits off of her site than I do from some sites I PAY for promo.

Those numbers aren’t MJD, or La Nora numbers but I’m not one to scoff at money, no matter what the amount. That’s why Mrs. Giggles can review me again any damn day.
In that review she can say I suck, my writing sucks, my cat sucks and I shop at Kmart and I’d write her another thank you note.

P.S. I love RD. Those are my girls and we all are very protective of the site and each other. *shrugs* We all need to learn that everyone, EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion.

What some of us may need to learn is that ONE person’s opinion of our work will not make or break us. Words on an internet site will not change who or what you are unless you let it. And if you do allow words to change who or what you are, the blame doesn’t lie with the person who wrote the words but with you. People are always going to have something negative to say. Whether its about you, your work or anything else and if you don’t put learn that no one’s opinion of you or your work is more important than your own, then you are going to be giving a lot of your power away. And I don’t know about anyone else but I personally don’t like feeling powerless.
