Hello From Florida…

For those out there who may be slightly worried about TTG and I, I thought I’d let you know that we decided to head for Orlando x 2 days, Kissimmee for a week, and Clear Water for the last week.  We decided that we’d be really pissed off, if the hurricanes messed with our holiday time.

Talk about providence.

We may still fly down to Miami however for a couple of days, depending on how the hurricanes are doing.

By the way, the most adorable little girl came up to me yesterday and held out her arms for me to pick her up, it was quite a funny moment, and after gaining permission from her mother I lifted her up in the air, and she squealed with such infectious pleasure, it was hard to worry about her lack of fear of strangers.

I did however give her mum my sympathetic, yet stern, she-needs-to-be-taught-that-she-can’t-speak-to-strangers look.

  • You’re so close, yet so far away! I’m just a short drive north of Orlando. I hope you’re having a wonderful time in our humid, hurricane-battered, miserably-hot state.
:-) And trust me when I say that little girl zeroed in on the right person to hug. Kids just KNOW.

  • While I understand your concern, I can’t help but smile. What a sweet thing!

Enjoy your vacation, Karen! and don’t let the heat get you down

    (Shelby, are you next door?)

  • Hot here at the moment, huh?

I’m a couple of hours north of you at the moment. It was a little cooler at the end of last week with the winds from Hannah hanging around but now the humidity has crept back up again.

  • Aztec, I am two hours north of Orlando. I can’t imagine tooling around Disney World in this weather. LOL But yes, I have done it, and survived to tell about it.

  • Glad you’re safe where you’re at, Karen!

With the exception of the baby bratlet, my kids wouldn’t go running up to strangers for hugs, but it’s one of those battle things where I’m constantly reinforcing how they don’t go approaching people they don’t know. The oldest isn’t such a worry, but the monster, my son aka Romeo…well, I call him Romeo for a reason. He’s a friendly little flirt and we’re always discussing this. :|

  • This is just too funny not to share. If you check my zip code at weather.com, it says “sunny and windy.” If you look out the window, it’s gray and pouring down rain.

And then they wonder why we don’t trust meteorologists!

Karen, the radar map image shows that’s it’s also raining where you are at. Stay indoors!

I have always said that meteorology is the only job at which you can be wrong 99.9% of the time and not be fired. Living in New England, I especially love in winter time, when they say there will be a light dusting and you walk out in a blizzard. :-D

  • Where are you when? I’m near all Orlando, Kissimmee and Clearwater so I’d love to buy you lunch, sweets. Just email me if you have a few hours in between Mickey Mouse and the beach!
