Angela James, dictionaries describe how people use words. Writers are supposed to use words more precisely than the average person on the street.

Although people do use "disinterested" to mean "uninterested", there is absolutely no reason for a writer to do so. "Uninterested" is a good word, and it unambiguously means "apathetic" or "indifferent" (which would also be good, unambiguous words to use).

I've noticed of the couple of EA books that I've read her heroines have a tendency to be more than a bit clueless and they also st-st-studder a lot.

For example: "I-I-I don't know what you're talking about!!"

Sounds like it may be a trademark of hers.

That's too bad. It sounded like a cute plot with fun twists and the potential to be entertaining.
But stupid heroines...ick. No thanks.

I haven't read this 'cause I'm not that interested in fairy godmother stories, but I have enjoyed several of EA's other books. Don't skip her other stuff based on this one.

The Pleasure Palace is a good sci-fi romance, and The Assignment is a good m/m romance. Pledge Slave is another good m/m paranormal romance. I've also heard good things about Take Two (m/f sci-fi) and Charlie's Bargain (m/f sci-fi).
