From the ending words* to the Rally to Restore Sanity:

But we live now in hard times, not end times.  And we can have animus and not be enemies.

… these millions of cars must somehow find a way to squeeze one by one into a mile long 30 foot wide tunnel carved underneath a mighty river.  Carved, by the way, by people who I’m sure had their differences.  And they do it.  Concession by conscession.  You go.  Then I’ll go.  You go. Then I’ll go.  You go then I’ll go. Oh my God, is that an NRA sticker on your car?  Is that an Obama sticker on your car? Well, that’s okay—you go and then I’ll go.

Because we know instinctively as a people that if we are to get through the darkness and back into the light we have to work together. And the truth is, there will always be darkness.  And sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel isn’t the promised land. Sometimes it’s just New Jersey.  But we do it anyway, together.

If you are in the United States and are a registered voter… go exercise your right and your duty to elect those who should help steer the country onward.

  • My husband and I love Jon Stewart as well. It was wonderful to see how many people feel just like we do. Here in NY, we get three states covered by the media: New York, New Jersey and CT… it has been HORRENDOUS in terms of the bombardment of negative political ads, all of the polarizing scaremongering politics from both sides, etc. I just wish we actually had representation. We don’t, as the political parties seem to be catering the the extreme opposite sides, not to the center. Still hoping that things will change though… GO VOTE!

  • Sanity… yeah, it’s still out there. 🙂 People in this country have always had a wide variety of opinions-we can do that and still live together, work together-geez, there are families, husbands and wives composed of Democrats & Republicans who had happily stay married. There’s no reason for such nastiness to constantly happen.

    And yep… I voted. 🙂

Hi! Couldn’t find any way of contacting you and couldn’t tell u in a Direct Message on twitter as your not following me but I just wanted to say I’ve noticed you seem to be under attack by “certain” people on twitter. I am fully on your side and know something you might be interested in that makes your original argument make a lot of sense but would rather tell you privately!
