And People Wonder Why I Hate Organised Religion So Much...

Check out this utter knob jockey called Bruce, who had this (and loads more besides) to say:

“It is funny to see the charge of misogyny leveled at the Church by women who promote the female version of pornography. Both “romance novels” and porn objectify and destroy the dignity of men and women. The Church opposes this, because she believes in the dignity of men and women, and rejects our objectification. Do You Show Some Cleavage, Wear Mini-Skirts and Stilettos? Then You're A Slut.

Yeah, that’s right, you’re a slut. Well, according to this lovely Christian, God-fearing woman anyway.

She despairs of young Christian women being a bit too liberal in their choice of clothing, and she urges them to cover up, lest the young men leer at them and assume that they are all kinds of sluttish goodness, instead of the future leaders that they are.

I notice that she has no such expectations of the men, because after all, they are stupid creatures who find it impossible to control their very natural baser instincts.

The blogger writes:

“Women will be future leaders, too, and I was dismayed to see how many of them either looked frumpish or like two-bit whores. (more…)

What sort of mind could conceive this?

This is what I have been pondering for the past week.

Allow me to elaborate a little.

Last Saturday evening, as I left work,  I found one of those adverts stuck under the windshield. You know the ones I mean, printed on shiny cardboard with some sort of invitation (free lunch in this case) to introduce you to something wonderful! amazing! cheap!

Usually it’s something along the lines of time shares (you know, making a monthly payment to enjoy one week a year somewhere exotic–and expensive–in a tiny condo or cabin that could accommodate twelve–if you sleep four to a bed) or, alternatively, a recruiting event for one of those just-this-side-of-legal pyramid schemes.

This time however, it was something I would not, in a million years, conceive.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me describe the card. (more…)

Excuse me, what was that?

Excuse me, what was that?

Stoning is more lenient than hanging because half of the victims survive? (last line of the article)

Really?

Please file this under “misogynistic assholes who have no fucking clue what Islam is really about.”

(And for anyone tempted to tell me that Christians or Jews have never been this barbaric, please check your History a bit first *coughSpanishInquisitioncough* *coughWitchcraftTrialscough* or do a quick search in the news *coughIsraeliextremistviolencecough*)

Damn, Keith Olbermann is good. I’ll fight you for him Angie.

The African American people who voted for this should know better. There I said it.

You know why? Because not too long ago, it was illegal for them to marry the ones that they loved.

Stolen from Angela James’ blog.

So, Rosemary Laurey alerted me to this story about a guy in Afghanistan, who was sentenced to death because he downloaded a report which suggested that Muslim fundamentalists who preached that the Koran justified the oppression of women, were acting in direct contravention to the teachings of their Prophet Mohamed.

The fate of Sayed Pervez Kambaksh has led to domestic and international protests, and deepening concern about erosion of civil liberties in Afghanistan. He was accused of blasphemy after he downloaded a report from a Farsi website which stated that Muslim fundamentalists who claimed the Koran justified the oppression of women had misrepresented the views of the prophet Mohamed.

Mr Kambaksh, 23, distributed the tract to fellow students and teachers at Balkh University with the aim, he said, of provoking a debate on the matter. But a complaint was made against him and he was arrested, tried by religious judges without – say his friends and family – being allowed legal representation and sentenced to death.

What the fuck?

Anyway, the Independent are trying to get his conviction quashed:

The Independent is launching a campaign today to secure justice for Mr Kambaksh. The UN, human rights groups, journalists’ organisations and Western diplomats have urged Mr Karzai’s government to intervene and free him. But the Afghan Senate passed a motion yesterday confirming the death sentence.

Anybody who feels that this is grossly unjust, (and really, why shouldn’t you?) please, please, please go and sign this petition, to help save this man’s life.

No way should a man be sentenced to death because he was forward thinking enough to want to read about women’s rights. What kind of religious freakishness is that?

God, this crap annoyed me beyond measure.

Some people simply have no respect for the dead, or the grieving:

A controversial church described as a “hate group” has said it will protest at Heath Ledger’s memorial service because he played a gay character in Brokeback Mountain.

The Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church – which has previously said they wished a million people had been killed in the London terror attacks in 2005 – issued a statement saying the Australian actor was “now in hell”.

“WBC will picket this pervert’s funeral, in religious protest,” the group said.

“God hates the sordid, tacky bucket of slime seasoned with vomit known as Brokeback Mountain and He hates all persons having anything whatsoever to do with it.

“Heath Ledger is now in Hell, and has begun serving his eternal sentence there.”

Un-effing-believable.

I just read that the Pakistani opposition leader, Benazir Bhutto, has been assassinated. I knew it would only be a matter of time, but I was still shocked by the news.

When she returned, having been exiled for a good number of years, I thought she was extremely brave, if a little foolish.

Apparently she was shot in the head, then a suicide bomber blew himself up, taking a few other people with him.

Fucking animals.

Just another reason to ban all organised religion.

The woman named a teddy bear Mohammed, and people think she should be put to death for that? I’m still reeling from the fact that they jailed her in the first place.

Never mind the problems with Darfur, drought, poverty, and sexual crimes against women that currently plague the country. Why worry about all that crap when it’s far easier to kill a woman in the name of God, just because she named a stuffed toy Mohammed.

I’d love to know how they manage to distinguish between God and The Devil.

I have the biggest urge to go buy a vibrator and call it Mohammed.

God this shit makes me angry.

Apparently she was garroted, and her body stuffed in a suitcase. The father ordered the murder, and he was aided by his brother.

I have no words for how disgusted I am at the fact that these vile men felt justified in murdering their own flesh and blood, just because she’d had the misfortune of falling in love with somebody else.

Honour killings eh? Don’t these imbeciles know that there is no honour to be found in butchering their kin?

I hope they rot in prison. Or worse.

Give me an atheist any fucking day.
