My Fave Read This Week

I did a little better with regards to my reading this week. The favourite book this week was a romantic suspense by Beverley Havlir called Bodyguard, the story went a little something like this:

Girl Genius Doctor witnesses a murder on her way home from work one night
Girl Genius’s overprotective and very influential father hires Boy Detective to protect his precious baby Girl Genius.

Girl Genius is resentful of Boy Detective cuz she’s afraid he’s gonna cramp her style, especially now that she’s decided to get laid after years of concentrating on being a genius.

Boy Detective is resentful cuz he thinks she’s a spoilt brat, and he has far more important things to do, than to babysit her.

Girl Genius and Boy Detective clash continuously until of course they wind up swapping saliva and doing the horizontal foxtrot.

Meanwhile Mean Murderer is still on the loose, and is closing in on Girl Genius.

As you can probably tell, I hate writing long review-like sentences, so I kept the synopsis to a bare minimum. I’m not gonna get all flowery with my description of the book and why I liked it, cuz you might just hate it, so all that’s left to say is that I liked it, if you wanna buy it, it’s available at EC, if you don’t well, hell, who cares?

Just as long as you don’t waste your hard earned money on Fletchina Archer’s ‘Menage A Spies’, like I did, you’ll be just fine. (And no, I wont go into exactly what I disliked about this book, cuz I can’t be arsed, and let’s face it, there’s no such thing as bad PR… right Fletch?)

Haven’t read Bev Havlir, yet, Karen. But I agree with you about Fletchina(huh?!) Archer. I bought “My Secret Sex Life”. What an absolute bunch of twaddle that was. And to top it off, it was in the first person.

Come to think of it, I never deleted from my laptop. Note to self – get rid of the crap.

LOL!!! I bet it wasn’t worse than Menage A Spies, gosh it was rubbish, I felt that she just spent the entire book rambling instead of telling the story, and to be honest the story wasn’t even interesting anyway, I’m surprised EC let her release another book after that tripe, mind you, have you noticed that she hasn’t written anything else since…it may have just been temporary insanity on EC’s part.

Note to Self, delete that crap from my computer.

I’ve got a few new books to read.

    Jumping the Fence from LooseId
A couple of other MM ones from Changeling (fancied some MM action). Thought crossed my mind, do you think it’s the same as when guys get turned by two women?

From EC: Harker’s Journey, Nocturnal Urges, and two others, bugger me if I can’t remember what they are. LOL

Dawn, LMAO at the comparisons with two women! I haven’t got the foggiest! I looked at Jumping the Fence, but I’m still wary of purely m/m stories, is there at least one female involved?

I had a good reading week, I also read Shelby Morgen’s ‘The Marker’ which I think was good, but I’m still confused as to what it was I liked about it… strange I know!

OMG, how bad was Menage a Spies? I read that book a while ago, and if I could have flushed it down the toilet, believe me, I would have. Karen I like your version of a review, most of the time, I get real bored reading them, but your take on the book was great! If only more reviews were as succinct lol!

Karen, Jumping the Fence is only MM. I quite enjoyed it. The others were Berdache by Lena Austin and Freedom Rising by Willa Okati. Don’t waste your money.

I don’t know about Lena Austin, but I’ve read several of Willa Okati’s story blurbs, and most of them sounded so bad, that there was no way I was ever gonna take my money out of my pocket, and go buy. Also I don’t know anyone who’s actually appreciated her books yet, everybody’s mostly said the same thing, RUBBISH! So sorry Willa, it’s all very well unknowingly spending money on wank books, but knowingly spending money on books you know aren’t even going to surpass the low expectations you had, is just plain STOOPID.

Chocoholic Girl, I knew I couldn’t be the only one who thought it was shit, but perhaps her other books are better, perhaps she was meant to write inspirational stories rather than erotic romance huh? (grin)

Going over to EC to check this one out, don’t worry, I’ll stay away from any Fletchina whats-her-face’s books!

Ruby, if it didn’t even earn at least 4 stars at Romantic Times, then that in itself tells a story. Romantic Times are quite generous with their ratings, so a three star generally indicates to me that the book sucked arse.
