I heard something about this during our trip on the way back. We were listening to a radio station called The Savage Nation and some whack job called in.
He said that there was supposed to be some annual Decadence Festival in New Orleans that week. God sent Katrina to punish the city like he did with the earthquake in San Francisco.

Next thing you know, he’ll be telling us that blind people are blind because of their past sins.

Holy Toledo. That’s one heck of a loving Heavenly Father we’ve got, to kill a bunch of people over someone else’s “sins.” I hate this kind of crap. People are nuts.

Ok, logic here. If this man’s wrathful and righteous God is angry at California’s Gay issues, then why did He send the hurricane to the Gulf Port and not California?
If his God is so righteous, and is upset about inequities committed against His chosen, what the heck was He doing when Nazis roamed this earth? Why didn’t He stop those nuts?
And finally, if this man’s God is so just in His denunciation of horse/man sex, why didn’t He just let horses drown instead of thousands of dogs, cats and other animals? Wouldn’t that have better served as a less confusing warning to the horse debaucherers? Better yet, why didn’t HE just let the horse molesters die?
Which reminds me, if this hurricane is a sign of any god’s wrath against sexual pervs, why do our newspapers continue to report child molestations or murders every single day? These crimes haven’t stopped. And it tells me a lot about the sense of justice of this man’s conception of god.

Can you imagine how proud I am to be lumped in with this ass and called an American? He should have an EPA rating for the pollution he fills the air with!
This crap has been every where over the weekend. My son had a friend of his from school start preaching to him about it. Yes, I mean PREACHING. She is 15 and telling him how the sinful way of life in New Orleans brought a category 4 hurricane to town. Well what about Las Vegas? Amersterdam? NYC? Los Angeles? Paris? Miami? Every large metropolitan city has its Sodom and Gomorrah.
This is too f***ing ridiculous for words!!

Sigh.
Unlike you I am not surprised.
From the south I deal with this thinking a lot.
This is what we have to deal with in the fanatical christian right.
Muslims are not the only one with fanatics.

Those morons usually fly under my radar. Unfortunately, they’re so loud.
Nice responses Desiree, and Rosie!

I hate to say it, but I agree with Jenn. And I agree with Max. TOTALLY surprised that it took over a week for someone to step up to the plate and make these kind of remarks.

A bit of levity in this momment. Girl child has a friend whose a bit extreme in beliefs and started this nonensense. In repsonse to the rant girl child looked over to the friend and said “Not my God.”
I gather this started a whole how there’s one God rant. Girl child waited (she has a wicked wit) for the right moment and reaffirmed her belief that the girl could not be talking about her God. The girl asked in total exasperation “Why not?”
Girl child just as calm and as sweet as can be replied, “Because my God has a brain.”
There are times when I just love her gift for sarcasm. *G*

There were people who said the same things about 9/11 and the Tsumani’s. I don’t know what God they’re worshiping, but it sure doesn’t sound like the loving God I was taught about.

I agree with you Eve. God did not inflict any of the tragedies that have befallen man throughout the milleniums. It is mostly all our damn fault! We build homes in places that are not structurally/ecologically safe and then wonder why !@#$ happens? People out of racism commit genocide, again PEOPLE being the common denominator. God is not to blame (after all innocent children were affected by this as well) – we (collectively) are! And it makes me sick when jackasses who have never read the bible, are not truly SPIRITUAL or are selective in their reading of it make asinine statements such as the above.
