So I spent the evening with these lovely boys tonight. Let me introduce you to Urs, (Swiss) David, (American) Sebastien (French), and Carlos, (Spanish).

In an effort to get more business from current clients, there are times when I have to bribe schmooze them. Tonight, I had tickets to see Il Divo in concert, so I took 3 clients who’s money I would like to see more of, with me.

The guys were fabulous. They’re an operatic boyband vocal group, and they sing all their songs in Italian. If I’m not mistaken, our own Simon Cowell discovered them.

My favourite was the Spanish guy, Carlos. He wasn’t the best looking by far, but he was the one with the passion and the personality. All the ladies at the Manchester Evening News arena thought he was pretty fab too.

They opened with their version of Toni Braxton’s Unbreak My Heart, or should I say, ‘Regressa A Mi’, at which point I was ready to part with my knickers. Bloody marvellous.

They’re touring all over the world at the moment, I believe they’ve already been to Las Vegas, but they’ll be going back to the US in June. They kick off the US leg of their tour in Florida, on June 14th, and finish up in Concord, California, on July 1st. After that, they’ll have one date in Canada.

If you live anywhere near where they’re performing, I would strongly recommend that you go and see their show. They were utterly fabulous.

The song “Isabelle” from their Ancora CD makes me want to drop everything and write a book in tribute to it everytime I hear it. I find a couple of their cover versions a little eye-rolling, but a few of their songs make me stop and close my eyes til the song’s over.

How cool you got to see them!

Their “I believe in You (Je crois en toi)” song has to be my favorite. I love the sound of their voices together… and their songs of course. Doesn’t hurt that they’re cute, either.

Karen? What the heck do you do for a living, anyway? A Nip and Tuck chick and a bunch of Simon discoveries has me wondering just how you spend your days? LOLLOL

Are you a publicist? PR? I don’t remember ever reading about your job…

    DC 🙂

Hi Karen! I love Il Divo, and Carlos is my fave – what a knicker-removing smile! He always reminds me of a Mills & Boon hero: the Italian Duke/the French Count/the Spanish Grandee/the Greek tycoon – he could play any of them LOL

I didn’t know Simon Cowell discovered them – he’s gone up in my estimation. Maybe that’s why he was so hard on G4 in last year’s Pop Idol: they were going to be Il Divo’s competition. Though pretty poor competition IMHO.

Great blog btw! I’ve spent hours reading it.

    Cheers, CK

Those guys look pretty damn classy. I’m sure they hardly ever bag groupies.

    Luv ya, Karen!

Thanks Mattropolis, you can come again *g*

Sam, for their tour details, just log onto http://www.ildivo.com/worldtour/
I believe they will be in France in May!

I LOVE Isabelle Shannon. I’m also quite partial to ‘Mama’. The only cover version I wasn’t that keen on was Sinatra’s ‘My Way’

Mel, they were extremely easy on the eyes, lol

Paz, I think you’d love them!

Dakota, Lol! My partner and I own an event management agency. The celebs that I meet are usually the clients of my clients. In the case of Il Divo, that’s just corporate entertaining.

Hi Cassandra, welcome to my blog! As far as I know, Simon either discovered them, or he created them, I’m not sure which.
You’re a writer? Are you published? If so, what books have you got out?

Hi Reese, I’m not sure about them not bagging groupies, they are men after all! *g*

Karen, I write erotic romances but nothing’s out yet. My first is out on 2 June by Chippewa Publishing, and I’ve just been contracted for another with Samhain Publishing, no release date yet. I’m in the middle of writing a few others, but I’m a terrible procrastinator and still haven’t got a set routine around my day job so the going’s slow. It probably won’t feel like a “real job” until my first story is up for sale. And then I’ll turn into one of those success obsessed writers who keep churning them out and make megabucks. Yeah, right.
