Riverbend talks about the American soldiers who gang-raped an Iraqi girl, then burned her body to hide the evidence, and killed her five year old sister, and the parents.

I can’t imagine living with that shit on my doorstep. It was interesting reading her point of view.

So it’s another Vietnam. *sigh* It was only a matter of time. This fucking war sucks. It’s pointless, endless, and it’s instigating more war. For fuck’s sake George dubya, get the hell over it!

A sad and tragic irony. Supposedly this war was about, amongst other things, ridding Iraq of the atrocities of a murderous monster. To make the Iraqi people safer and freer. Forgive me for being pretentious and quoting Nietzsche but it’s so apt:

“He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.”

It’s so unbearable to read the news…any news about Iraq. It is beyond my comprehension to imagine living day to day and hour to hour like Riverbend is.

In all honesty all I want to do is turn away and not think about it, but my humanity begs that the least I can do is bear witness and speak out about it.
