So We Looked At The Houses…

So we looked at the houses yesterday. I’ve got some accompanying photo’s for each house.

Verdict: Didn’t like at all. All fur and no knickers. Ugly Kitchen.

Verdict: Not bad, rooms too small, nice back garden.

Verdict: Smaller than it looks, liked the fact it was vacant.

Verdict: Hated the decor, loved the backyard, but too high maintenance. bathroom too small.

Overall, all ok houses, but they flattered to deceive. The 3rd house was the best, but not ‘the’ one.

So the house search continues…

I really liked the back yard of the last house. But I do agree the rooms looked small. Still thinking about that patio, having friends and family over.

Good luck with your continued hunt. I’m sure it’s out there just waiting for you and the TG.

Karen, we just bought a house this spring after looking for almost 6 months (ok, I started a wee bit early), I would say that I looked at over 100 homes, and of those, only about 10 appealed to me… You kiss a lot of frogs before you meet that prince..
One thing about the house I bought is that it had a great layout and roomsizes, but it had wallpaper in almost every room.. Purple wallpaper (some of it with big white flowers on the purple wallpaper)… I developed carpal tunnel removing it… So my advice is this, unless you love the wallpaper, or have a lot of money to get it removed, run from the house!

Good luck with the house hunting! I went through that at the beginning of the year and looked at countless houses after the first one we liked didn’t pan out. Finally dragged hubby to another one I loved and we’ve been in it for a month now. Love it!

How far away from the city would you have to live to get decent sized houses like these? I’ve been trying to convince Hubby that we should work in the UK for a few years but he doesn’t want to live in a box. (Having said that, I don’t want anything with a yard, either. I just want a roomy apartment/terrace near a park in a safe neighbourhood.)

Jade, I liked the 2nd house too, but the steps up to the front door put me off. We have too many bulky things that would have to go up those steps. It was cute tho!

Rosie, the backyard on the last house is nice, but I’d have to get rid of all the shrubbery, or it would end up looking like a jungle. I simply don’t do gardening, it’s hard enuff with what we have now. I’m a patio and decking kinda gal!

Sallahdog, that’s exactly what I said to The Tall Guy, the kitchen in the first house proves that some people’s taste really is all in their mouth. Talk about foul. Our present house is totally minimalist, colours are white and sandstone. Where we go all out are in the soft furnishings. Also, none of our current rooms are wallpapered, and that’s how the next house will be too.

Congrats on your new digs Mad!

Kat, we only live about 20 miles away from the nearest major city, but there is a small towncentre about 5 miles away. As it happens, most of the houses where we live, are about this kind of size, there are smaller houses, but most people are looking to buy big so that they don’t ever have to move.
