I finally finished Laura Kinsale’s Flowers From The Storm. For some reason, this book took me forever to read, although it probably didn’t help that I was reading about four other books at the same time.
I very rarely read one book at a time. I find that if there is more than one book that I’m excited about, I’ll attempt to read them simultaneously. I get this really exciting feeling in my chest, and waiting to read one book, whilst I finish another just seems too much like hard work.
For instance, whilst reading Laura Kinsale’s book, I was also reading Hide and Seek, by Cherry Adair, (sucked arse), Just For Kicks by Susan Andersen, (total snoozefest), The Hunter, by Gennita Low, (disappointing) and Project Eve (fabulous book) by Lauren Bach.
Is this something everybody else does, or am I alone in my weirdness?
Incidentally, I totally loved LK’s book. I really liked the hero, Jervaulx, (pronounced Shervoh) and even Maddy (the heroine) didn’t piss me off with her freakishly religious leanings. It was a tad long, but I didn’t mind that in the least.

I think I’ve read whole books in between books. Like I might read an ebook which is shorter while I’m reading a print book. I don’t think I could keep track if I were reading more than one book at a time.

Since I discovered the library, I’ve never read one book at one time. Once I could afford to buy books it became a reading orgy for me.

See now, I couldn’t get thru Flowers. LK makes my skin itch. Just not my thing I guess … (I’m beginning to think I’m the ONLY one who thinks so too!)

Oh and I usually try to read one book at a time, BUT there are times where I pick up one, then pick up another and another, and finish those before I finish the first. As a whole though, I try to finish one before I start another. I’m anal.

I always read more than one book at a time. What I show on my sidebar as currently reading really are all books I’m currently reading. There are various reasons for this but it’s less common for me to have just one book going than it is four or five. And often I’ll sneak in a quick ebook that won’t ever appear in the currently reading but will show up in the just finished.

I can’t read more than 2 — kinda like Rosie. One can be an E book and the other a print book. I figure if I’m ready to read something else while in another book then it’s time to put the first one down because it’s not capturing my attention.
I read really fast though, so if a book’s good I’ll have it done in two to three hours.

Right now, I’m reading something like five books at once. Just wish one of them was holding my interest enough to make me not want to read something else…

I only read one at a time usually unless I’m just not really into a book. I really get into the books I’m enjoying and won’t put them down long enough to read anything else; I tend to walk around with the book in my hand while cooking, cleaning, eating, taking a bath, etc. lol I am a very fast reader, so I’m done with them and ready for a new book pretty quickly. I haven’t done anything this stupid in years, but once I went to the bookstore and actually started reading a book I couldn’t wait to read while driving home. *blushes* I was much younger and dumber then.

If I’m really into a book, that’s all there is. I’m done in like three hours, MAX. Otherwise, I have books in nearly every room of my house and if I have aminute, I pick up where I left off for a little bit, then go back to whatever I was doing. It’s likely I have five going when I’m in a reading mood.

I’m always reading books in the middle of other books. I’ve been plodding through Mao: The Unknown Story by Jung Chang for months. While it’s a fantastic (and true) story, I’ve read piles of other books along the way…everything from pure smut to historical fiction to analytical textbooks. Of course, the last is for a certification, but I read them nonetheless.
I don’t think it’s strange at all to read more than one book at once. I think of it as something akin to flipping the channel to another show when a commercial is on. That and my mom does it, so it must be ok!

I have so many books I’ve started then put down to read something else while still reading the other. I have like, reading ADD or something. Lol. I think it comes from having such a big TBR pile. It makes me want to read everything at the same time. I totally hear ya on this.

I usually only have no more than 2 going at once, and often one is a re-read. BTW, I’m so glad that someone else discovered Lauren Bach. I love her books!

I’ve usually got 3 or 4 on the go at any one time. Right now for example – reading Cold as Ice, rereading Memory in Death, rereading Ride the Fire and reading To Live Again.

Well, I’ve heard that there are some strange people who do things like that, read several books at a time.
I don’t do that. What’s I’ll do is put down a book if it’s boring and start another if one is available. In times of desperation (nothing else to read) I might pick up the first book that I’d abandoned.
But to put down an interesting book for another interesting book? Nah! 🙂
