Just been to see Casino Royale with TTG, and all I can say, is out of two… I’d certainly give Daniel Craig one… (g)
Brilliant, brilliant, and bloody brilliant.
After all that hoo hah about him being blonde, I didn’t even think about it once whilst I was watching the film.
Dark, brooding, and sexy as hell, the quintessential James Bond.
He totally rocked.

He almost stole Munich from Eric Bana. I had no idea who he was but there was a scene where the Jews end up in a flop house with Palistinians. They lie about who they are and share the space until they all leave and get back to the business of blowing each other up. It’s like caged lions and Craig is the scariest lion in the bunch.
I realy want to see him in Casino Royal. Hope I get time over the holidays.

Over here they’re saying this is one of the best Bond movies yet. Don’t know if I’ll see it ’cause I really don’t like the whole Bond thing, but it is getting excellent reviews.

See, and I just don’t find him attractive at all. So un-Bond-like.

We are so dying to see this one. I haven’t had much interest in the last couplew Bond movies, but this one looks good. And it looks like I’m getting cheated out of date night, since Jeff wants to go, too. Dang. Who tokd the kids they could grow up? *muttering to self about darn kids going to see movies with their friends…*

Lori,
I don’t find him attractive either, but he is a darn good actor.
I am of the camp that thinks there will only be one Bond and that is Sir Sean. But from the reviews coming out on this film, they are saying that the franchise and with Mr. Craig’s help, are taking this back to the original storyline or characterization of Bond.
I will reserve my opinion on this until I actually see the movie….. but, sigh, I can’t help but wish they had picked a different person… Gerry Butler maybe or Clive Owen?
I think of Bond as very dark and suave!

Oooo, he was fabulous…nothing like a good bit of rough back in the Bond! I was never a fan of too much polish on James [like Roger Moore] he has to have a bit of brutality in him to be a 00 and thankfully I thought it was here in the new Casino Royale!

When I heard Craig was going to play Bond, I didn’t buy it. Not because he was blond (Roger is/was blondish) but because he didn’t have that suaveness that I felt was so essential to being Bond. And I really thought they should have brough Pierce back for one more round.
But I figure the movie would be a really good thriller, so I didn’t have to buy him as Bond, I’d just approach the whole thing as a great movie.
Well, Craig convinced me he was Bond within the first 5 mins. He brings the whole Bond franchise back to Sean Connery in Dr. No, but makes it his own.

My husband went to see it without me and keeps telling me, “I think you’ll like it more than I did.” I don’t know quite what to make of that comment since he’s always been the big Bond fan and I’ve seen them mostly because of him. DC seems to have a bit of ruggedness about him which I like…perhaps that’s what he means.
Anyway, how about the story? Is it any good?

I loved the story, it was excellent, and kept me hooked all the way thru the film. The love story in it was really touching too, for those of us who love our romance.
It was lovely seeing Bond truly fall in love for the first (and last) time.

Actually, not the last time Bond falls in love. At least not in the books. In “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” Bond gets married. He met his wife, ironically, during one of his annual visits to Vesper’s grave. Wife ends up getting killed, as a consequence of Bond’s work. And *that* pretty much is the end of Bond taking a chance on love. George Lazenby played Bond in the movie.

I enjoyed the movie. Craig isn’t sexy and doesn’t have suaveness of the Bond we loved. But if you remember this is suppose to be the first Bond, then you understand, he had to learn how to be sexy and suave.
He definitely got his butt kicked a lot in this movie. Bond usually does most of the butt kicking.
I decided to give him a chance, because I remembered how many people didn’t think Pierce could be Bond and I did.
I think he did a good job for the first Bond.

I saw Casino Royale on opening day and it’s fucking AWESOME. I’m a huge James Bond fan (watched all the movies and read all the books)and Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery (my favorite). Craig is a terrific actor and he played the role with great seriousness it deserved. He’s very rugged and has this cruel sexuality about him. Definitley a must see movie.

I’ve not seen the movie yet, and no he might not have the traditional tall and dark looks. But hey we’re talking a Bond movie, so heck yeah I’ll give him a chance! My husband and I are both looking forward to seeing this one.

There hasn’t been a broody and dark Bond since Connery. I wasn’t too keen on Craig either until I saw the previews. Now I can’t wait to see it.

I’m still gloating because when the casting news was announced a lot of people thought Daniel Craig would sink the film (mostly because he’s a blond). So, I made bets with some of these sceptics. Considering the current slate of reviews, I think I’ve made a nice little profit. They should have watched ‘Layer Cake’ before making a bet with moi. Buwahahahaha! 😀
