I’m gutted that David Beckham is going to play for the LA Galaxy, instead of coming back home to England, but on a wage of $100m per week, who can blame him?
I recall crying like my heart was breaking when he left Manchester United, to go to Real Madrid, (erm, that’s pronounced ‘Ray-al’, not ‘Reel’, for my American Amigo’s who know nothing about proper football) but there’s no arguing with Sir Alex. (I can’t be arsed linking, so you either know what I’m talking to you about or you don’t.)
Anyway, as an ode to Becks, here are a few photos of him. I love that man like a fat kid loves cake.
He is truly a beautiful man.

Boy, is this a bad time to admit to living next to LA? Of course, if I ever run into him I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t see him past the entourage. I was ten feet from Joe Montana once. Didn’t even see his hair. (whine)

Well, I’m completely delighted! Since I live in L.A. and my brother generally buys season tickets. But I sobbed broken heartedly when he left ManU for Real. Although I do still adore ManU, having loved them long before he ever played for them.

Hey Karen, I wanted to mention that I am one of the few football fans in the States that knows how to pronounce Real Madrid. However, you don’t seem to know that it’s the LA Galaxy, not Galaxies. ; )
It’s nice to see one of the world’s best players coming to the US to play pro ball, but he’s the only one so it doesn’t really mean too much. I bet he last two years tops, ditches and goes back to the Premiership playing for Wigan or some other teams like that.

After twenty six years in L.A., my life finally has meaning. Becks is the best thing about football (both the American and the Rest-of-the-World versions). Since he’s soon to be an Angeleno, he might as well come straight out and admit that it is all about the money – there’s no shame in $50 million a week, Becks.
I’m even excited about Posh. She is a train wreck, and I love her. I can’t wait for the inevitable parade of fashion faux pas.

Yeah, Posh is gonna have her hands full keeping him away from man-eaters. Feel quite sorry for her, actually. I know she’s a bit of a manequin at times, but she always seems quite lovely during interviews (the one with Michael Parkinson comes to mind). It can’t be easy trying to hang on to a sex symbol, raise three kids and try to have some kind of career/life of her own.

Oh, Karen, I totally agree! Despite all the money he earns, if I were Posh I’d be counting the years ’til he retires. It’ll be interesting to see how their relationship evolves when she can keep a closer eye on what he’s up to.
