Yummy Sounding Book…

Posted in: AA romance book promotion

Normally when there’s a yummy sounding book that gets added to my TBR list, I usually do so without any fanfare, but seeing as I’m trying to save the world from racism, one book at a time, I thought I’d promote Eve Vaughn’s new book out at Samhain. Here’s the blurb:

Sounds good ja? If you haven’t tried an IR book before, here’s your chance to go buy. (Only if you like the blurb and it seems like your kinda book.)

What’s an IR book? And no, the blurb makes me scream in my head but only because it would be so inappropriate to have an affair with your paralegal. I know a guy who has burned through three of them. Terrible reputation.

Plus, why would you want to go after a guy who made fun of you?

I’ve been really impressed with Samhain’s quality, but I loathe the boss / assistant dynamic as a plot device. I’ll have to ponder.

Jane, I/R is interracial. And I totally agree, btw, on the boss thing. I’m pretty liberal in what’s acceptable (I didn’t bat an eye at a 17 year old boy-whore) but sleeping with your boss strikes me as skeevy, even if it’s for revenge.

But maybe she quits her job? That would fix it for me.

LOL, no one’s surprised that I’m totally into the boss/assistant thing. I’ve seen so many office romances that it’s kinda second nature to me. (Esp the office games of making the ex jealous and group planned revenge…shoot, I’m getting another idea here!)

I’m cracking up that a 17 year old man-whore is okay but an office romance is skeevy, lol. But hey, takes all tastes to turn the world!

    Hugs,
    Dee
(who will be sneaking this one into her next paycheck!)

    “I’m cracking up…”

I knew somebody would comment on that. Difference is, the boy-whore was off the clock, and this doesn’t sound like it’s simply an office romance. He’s also her boss and that puts him in a position of power over her before they enter into a sexual relationship. She could also be accused of trying to sleep her way to the top. None of that sounds pleasant, but as you note, it takes all kinds of preferences.

From the excerpt, it isn’t the writing style I like so I’ll take a pass but that reminds me just how much I love excerpts/’search inside’s.

There’ll be books whose blurbs are great but when I take a page one gander, will decide against, and then others whose first chapters get me so excited I order the book right away with – get this – expedited delivery.

    That’s a lot of excitement.

May all author websites have this wonderful feature forevermore.

Yeah, I don’t like boss/employee romances either. I do like stories about couples who meet through their jobs, though. I’ve liked Vaughn in the past so I’ll probably buy it. I’m also thrilled to find an I/R that’s not paranormal.

Lena Matthews wrote a fantastic I/R romance. You can get it over at Samhain. “Three Nights” part of her Jokers Wild series.

Chris is one of the best heroes I’ve read in a long time.

Putting aside the tag of “I/R” it was one of the best ROMANCES of 2006 for me. Because really, as well written as her characters are, I could have cared less if they were purple.

Thanks for the shout out K-rock!!
Hope you like it. You know you make me nervous when you read my stuff.

Thanks Lena! You know I love your stuff as well.

Though I write characters of all races I must admit I enjoy writing IR’s best. Being in an interracial marriage myself, I think it’s reflective of the changing face of today’s society.

I admit the office scenario can be a sensitive issue for some, but I couldn’t resist writing a story with a sex on the desk scene. I blame it on the hormones and my general perviness.

    I love the cute title.

My mother fell in love with her boss, and I’m glad of it or otherwise I wouldn’t be here 🙂

Dalia, the Samhain website always has an excerpt with the book. Also, I have a different excerpt up on my blog today, for The Reinvention of Chastity, if you’d like a second excerpt (I do this every Wednesday, feature my authors’ releases)
