This time it’s author, Dianne Castell (Lori Foster’s best buddy) who’s forgetting that sometimes it’s best to say nothing. (Hey, I got nothing to sell, so I can say what I want.)

Go read Jennifer’s (Let’s Gab, and Don’t Talk, Just Read), rant about Dianne publicly berating a reader.

Sigh.

You know it’s bad when Jennifer gets controversial. *g*

Oh, by the way, THAT GIRL was called Karen Maries Stewart. Go read, it’s… an eye-opener. Not quite the choir boy eh?

To go to the trouble of finding out this information, somebody must really hate you-know-who. I wonder what she did to her…?

Ah Karen. You know me too well. LOL Yup, wouldn’t say shit if I had a mouthful.

Unless of course I’m called up to defend a friend. I’d stand in front of Anne in a heartbeat.

And of course I could also…surreptitiously learn all the ways I, as a reader, can effectively promote the authors and soon-to-be-authors I love so they can get more book contracts, so I can read more from them, and so on. You know who’s on my list at the moment.

“On Monday, May 10, 1994, one day after Mother’s Day and in the presence of the victim’s children (ages 14 and 13), 23-year-old David Roy Keen grabbed his ex-girlfriend, Karen Maries Stewart, by the hair and pumped two bullets into her head. He then shot at her 14-year-old daughter, according to police reports and trial records.”

“My husband and I both strongly feel that, accident or not, mistake or no mistake, he deserved to be punished for what he did. For us, that isn’t the issue. The issue for me as a wife and as an activist is this: Does a man deserve to spend the rest of his life alone and neglected, starved for human affection and attention, because of a deed he committed many, many years ago as a young, immature man? “

That is the sound of my jaw dropping.

No wonder Engler was so light on the details of the crime. Wouldn’t do to let on that her husband tried to kill a 14 year old girl as well as her mother. Of course, the old – I was too drunk to know what I was doing – defense is worthwhile.

Let’s abolish those drunk driving laws. Those poor guys who drink until they can’t safely navigate the roads and ultimately kill someone with their car are really, really sorry.

Before Susan Edwards gets here and says it’s all a malicious dirty low down lie created by the State of Florida (Like the tattoo) here is the actual newspaper article on the sentencing.

Oh and I guess since she is sooo mama bear protective of her children she doesn’t think they are in danger because he is actually locked up, besides anyone could be depressed and poor and try to kill a 14 year old girl.

I am starting to feel sorry for the EC authors. I mean sales will likely drop. After this I couldn’t buy something that would benefit Jaid Black.

Keen took the stand in his own defense Monday, saying no one had told him the gun was loaded.

He denied he fired at Jeffers or aimed it at Jeffers’ boyfriend. He said he didn’t intend to kill Stewart.

“Mr. Keen, you wanted to stay with Karen Marie Stewart forever, didn’t you?” he was asked.

    “Yes,” he said.,

    Note to Tina:

If David says he wants to stay with you “FOREVER”. He does not necessarily mean for you to be actually living during this “FOREVER”.

I would feel sorry for Jaid Black if she didn’t bring this onto herself. This is really a bad PR misfire from someone who should know better than to take an activist stand when it’s clear that her emotions are involved.

I think people need to take a time-out from the Web. Switch off the PC and go outside for a week, folks!

What bothers me is not that she’s married to a murdering, burglarizing felon (I think burglary was the other charge he had been in prison for before the murder). I couldn’t care less about that. What bothers me is Ms Engler’s complete and utter inability to acknowledge that she may be wrong about even one point of her diatribe against the System.

She doesn’t acknowledge that the victim’s family’s have rights, or that we the public have a right to be protected against a violent repeat felon. Or that he deserves to be punished for his “mistake,” regardless how drunk or young he may have been.

Ask my mortgage company what would happen if I made a mistake and stopped making payments. Or If I never filed another tax return. Or never fed my kid. Life comes with consequences for our choices. No matter who you are.

    Oops. My mistake.

    Sheesh. *grumble*

being young and drunk and stupid is an excuse for calling and hanging up on your ex at 3 am, not shooting them twice in the head.

What bothers me is that anyone can create a blog ANONYMOUSLY to hurt and try to destroy another human being. And that’s not Koscher. This person (whoever she is) created a blog specifically to smear Jaid Black. These two posts are not only malicious gossip, but too close to stalking.

Say what you will about Jaid, like her or not she doesn’t hide away with false identities whenever she posts. She says exactly what she feels and thinks. I do admire her for that and more.

I keep trying to figure out the purpose of such an act, and the only one I can come up with is envy – envy of a woman who built a successful career and envy of an epublishing business who not only established the standards of the business, but also the one who reigns supreme.

    I am confused, again.

Perhaps I really can’t understand English.

    But.

As far as I can tell, Karen’s blog is not anonymous in any way–unlike the comment above. Perhaps the commenter is referring to JaynieR’s blog? But that doesn’t fit either, because in that one it was all about ‘brave JB/TE’ and fangirly squeeing.

Back to Karen’s blog then. But this blog has been around for a while, and–as far as I can tell–was not created to discredit or smear or whatever anyone.

    *scratching head*

Perhaps someone else can explain what I’m missing here?

Yes, azteclady… the commenter is referring to Der Schadenfreude, which is anonymous and posted all sorts of info about Tina Engler’s hubby and other stuff.

Oh I think we can do better than that, I’m thinking that this Der Shadenfreude person is somebody who Tina Engler has screwed over in the past. I read the Planet article that Susan Edwards wrote in 1994, and Cris Bashear said she couldn’t imagine working anywhere else. Something obviously went wrong with those two, so it isn’t all that inconceivable, that Engler just pisssed somebody else off.

Or it could be the pill-popping author who Engler talked about on her own blog.
There are lots of reasons why this particular blog may have been created, and not all of it will be because of envy.

Engler is entitled to her opinion, but she should be prepared for the fall out, when she speaks her mind.

“These two posts are not only malicious gossip, but too close to stalking.”

That is not gossip that is public records and news events.

That murder and the actions of Jaid’s husband are very real.

“blog ANONYMOUSLY to hurt and try to destroy another human being.”

No no that was Jaid’s cute hubby, he is the one who killed a woman and then tried to kill her daughter.

Jaid just wants to down play the reality of his actions is all.

The story of this woman’s murder is so common that it should be an embarrassment to the United States. I suspected it probably had gone down something like this but the second gunshot to the head pretty well decides the issue of intent to kill.

Being drunk is not an excuse under the law but I think the purpose of that was to argue that he was too intoxicated to form intent so it wouldn’t be premeditated murder. However, someone testified that he had planned it.

I have no sympathy for this man and further have no sympathy for Ms Engler. Anyone remember the case in California where the woman with a Christian Prison outreach group became enamored of a prisoner. When he was released they met a motel where he raped her and then cut her legs off. No one knows what someone who has become institutionalized will do when the artificial boundaries of the institution are removed.
