And Another One Bites The Dust…

I’ve no idea who Stardust Press. were, but they’ll be going kaput on 30th September. This is what the CEO or whoever ‘Raine’ is, had to say:

“After much discussion and negotiation and evaluation, it is with regret that we announce StarDust Press is closing effective September 30, 2007. We are saddened that despite all our efforts, SDP is bleeding, and the investors have decided to cut their losses.”

At least we can be grateful that this time, the owners don’t seem to be totally losing the plot. They’ve obviously learned from the antics of the last lot.

By the way, does anybody know what it means when you dream that everytime you picked up a newborn baby, you either broke its bones, or dropped it on its head?

I had the same dream on Friday and Sunday. I woke up crying each time.

I really think I need a break.

    My guesses about the baby dream are either:

    a) There’s something happening in your life and you feel like no matter how hard you try to do the right thing, everythings going to fuck up on you; or

    b) You’re getting clucky and your subconscience is having a freakout about it. Karen looks at babies and thinks, “Hmmmmm. Wouldn’t mind taking one of those home.” Subconscience screams at Karen: “You can’t have a baby, you ninny! You’ll drop it or break it or something! Get a dog instead!”

    I have a recurring dream that I am jumping of a single tall skyscraper standing in the middle of the Australian desert. So if a dream interpreter comes by can they do that one too? It’s really starting to freak me out.

    This is from Dream Moods:

    http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/b.htm

    To see a baby in your dream, signifies innocence, warmth and new beginnings. Babies may symbolize something in your own inner nature which is pure, vulnerable, and/or uncorrupted. Babies may represent an aspect of yourself that is vulnerable and helpless. If you dream that you forgot you had a baby, then it suggests that you are trying hide your own vulnerabilities; You do not want to let others know of your weaknesses.

    If you dream that you are on your way to the hospital to have a baby, then it signifies your issues of dependency and your desire to be completely care for. Perhaps you are trying to get out of some responsibility. If you are pregnant, then a more direct interpretation may simply mean that you are experiencing some anxieties of making it to the hospital when the time comes.

    To dream of a crying baby, is indicative of a part of yourself that is deprived of attention and needs some nurturing. Alternatively, it represents your unfulfilled goals and a sense of lacking in your life.

    To dream about a starving baby, represents your dependence on others. You are experiencing some deficiency in your life that needs immediate attention and gratification.

    To dream of an extremely small baby, symbolizes your helplessness and your fears of letting others become aware of your vulnerabilities and incompetence. You may be afraid to ask for help and as a result tend to take matters into your own hands.

    To see a dead baby in your dream, symbolizes the ending of something that is part of you.

    To dream that you are dipping a baby in and out of water, signifies regression. You are regressing to a time where you had no worries and responsibilities. Alternatively, it is reminisce of when the baby is in the fetus and in its comfort zone. In fact, some expectant mothers even give birth in a pool, because the environment in the water mimics the environment in the uterus. It is less traumatic for the baby as it emerges into the world. So perhaps, the dream your search for your own comfort zone.

    ~~~
    None of that is exactly dropping and breaking a baby, but it might help you figure out your dream.
    Take care
    I keep having dreams where I lose my teeth, one after the other. At first, they feel too big for my mouth, then they get all loose, and then out they go. Sometimes it seems as if I lose more than I actually started with!
    Am I right to think it indicates I’m feeling my age?
    Also, all those dreams I have where I’m in highschool and can’t find my room, remember what classes I have, recall my locker combination–what the fuck is up with that?! If I’m feeling like a goddamn crone, you’d think I’d stop dreaming about highschool, FFS!
    Kirsten – I have the high school dream a lot too, particularly the locker combination thing. Or trying to dial a phone and screwing up the number over and over and over again. I think the forgetting numbers thing is pretty common and is usually an anxiety / stress related thing.
    Seems kind of unfair that being bugged in waking life leaks into dreams too, doesn’t it?
    My guess is the baby dream is also anxiety related – you feeling broody, Karen?
    I used to dream about freight trucks that should be under my remote control swerving all over the highway and other things like that, horrible events beyond my control. Night after night.
    That was when I used to read intensely on Peak Oil. I’ve laid off quite a bit since then.
    I’ll say it’s fear and anxiety of some sort for you.
    I’ve had the teeth falling out dream almost my entire life. Sometimes they turn into chalky powder in my mouth, and other times they unexpectedly fall out, impeding my ability to speak as they roll around on my tongue.
    Since I’ve been having the dream since I was about eight, I have a hard time with the Freudian interpretations that this is about sex or some such blather.
    I learned from a therapist a few years ago that the most important part of dream interpretation is what emotions the dream causes in you and what YOU think the symbols mean.
    For me, the teeth falling out represents the theme that something dramatic is happening to me but that no one will listen. In my dream I sometimes try to tell my older brother that my teeth fell out, but all I get back is, “Everyone’s teeth fall out. Don’t worry. Your adult teeth will come in soon.” Other people will start telling me about their hair falling out or their need to visit the dentist.
    If you wake up crying form your dream, Karen, then I would agree with the earlier comments that there’s something going on in your life that you feel is precious or important which is going out of control, or which is overwhelming to you.
    But that’s only MY interpretation. Yours is more important.
