Where Do You Read Yours?

Posted in: reading habits

I’ve been waiting for a couple of books to be delivered from Amazon, and yesterday, they finally arrived. Yippeeee!

Usually, my favourite place to read is in bed, but the people who we bought the house from, left us the most fantabulous wicker chair in the master bedroom.

I decided to try out the chair yesterday to see if it went well with Maya Reynolds’ book, Bad Girl.

Wow. I totally found a great new reading place.

I have a friend who only ever reads when she goes to the bathroom, so she always has lots of books next to the toilet. Let’s hope her hubby has a better aim than TTG.

So, where do you prefer to read? Do you read in bed, or do you have a special place just for you and your book? Do you read with the music or telly on, or do you, like me, prefer total silence?

By the way, have I missed out on any scandals this past week? Anybody who needs to go on my ABLF list? Go on, you can tell me… *g*

I love to read anywhere, but if I had to say a favorite… I guess it would be in my big livingroom chair which has a matching ottoman. When my eyes get tired of reading I just close them and nap. …perfect!

Meh, I don’t have a preferred reading place. Whenever, where ever. With background noise or silence, in bed or on the couch, in the car or on a plane. Doesn’t matter.

I read everywhere, but my favorite spot is a comfy reclining chair next to a good quality reading lamp in our library/living room. My second favorite spot is a chaise lounge on my porch.

I read anywhere but my favorite place lately is in bed, surrounded by a bunch of pillows, after the girls have gone to bed and hubby is still at work. Bliss. *G*

PS. Do let me know how you like the Reynolds books. I, too, just got it the other day from Amazon but I have not read it yet.

My favorite place to read is the same as my favorite place to write. On one of my chaises.

I usually read in bed and try to get in an hour or so each night. Then on the couch in the breakroom at work I read. ANd on the couch downstairs. So, hmm…anywhere.

I’d really love a nice chaise and it’s on my wishlist for future splurges. Unfortunately, I hardly ever see any in the furniture stores around here (or at least the semi-affordable ones).

I mostly read at the dining room table. I spit on all these trade paperback sized books because they hurt my delicate wrists and thumbs. (I really don’t spit on them, I just resent having to wait until the books come out in normal paperback size),

My fave is ensconced in the red leather slipper chair next to the floor-to-ceiling window in my living room. During the day, I read by sunlight. When it gets dark, I flip on the lamp I have behind the chair.

But I read pretty much everywhere, even while walking home from work.

I CAN and have read in many places, but my usual and fave place is in bed with several pillows.

Another spot is our over-sized leather chair in our LR. Comfy, good light but not always available if my kids have friends over or are watching TV because I can read with noise but prefer quiet…if I can get it.

Scandals? There’s scandals in Romancelandia? 😛

Like most everybody else, I read everywhere, but my faves include the tub, my couch, in bed and outside in my beach chair.

I can read anywhere, noise or not. When I’m reading I just zone out and don’t notice anything around me.

My fave places though are the bath and on the sofa in our conservatory. Can’t read in bed ‘cos I’ll fall asleep!

On a yard blanket underneath a tree, especially in fall with the smell of leaves and a fresh breeze and an apple at hand.

Mostly read during my train commutes. I am very involved on MMOs (as I play with my husband) so when I am home I spent most of my free time online in our current favorite game. On weekends I barely read unless it is a new release from one of my absolutelyfragginlyfavorite authors. When that happens, I claim ownership of our nice, super comfy recliner in the living room and turn the T.V. on for background noise.

I don’t really care where as long as it’s quiet. My husband doesn’t understand why I can’t stay in the room to read while he’s watching football. Not only does he feel the need to comment and yell at the t.v., he actually rewinds commercials and wants me to watch them. *rolleyes*

Is an author calling reviewers of her book unethical and mean a scandal? LOL

I guess my favorite place is at down in bed when I’m the only person awake at my home.
The wierdest place I read would be in the kitchen while I am cooking you can find me reading with a book in one hand and with a spoon in the other!! of course, I am not good in the kitchen, but the book might help get me through it!

Normally I read in bed, at bedtime when no one is awake to ask me for anything.

PS – I dream of having a chaise lounge in my bedroom and having the leisure to read whenever I like…

I can read anywhere, but I must admit, I do prefer my new chair, along with total silence.

The silence is specially helpful when I’m trying to read books that suck from the beginning, or books where the world building is very complex.

Oh not that old chestnut again, who was it this time?

😉 My chair in the living room. I tend to read a lot at the gym, but that’s not my fave place to do it… reading is just the only thing that makes that stupid treadmill tolerable.

Anywhere I can mostly, though my favorite place is in bed before I go to sleep. Very relaxing.

How do you get the book to stay in place and not bobble around? I tend to lose my place a lot when on my exercise bike. Just looking for tips. 🙂

It was Adra Steia. I was actually really surprised b/c the first bad review I gave her, she was really classy about it.

It’s the unethical part that throws me. *shrug*

I read it Mad, and all I’ll say is that it read like a debut novel. Make of that what you will. *g* Go read it, then tell me what you thought of it, then we can compare notes.

I can read anywhere except in a moving vehicle or plane. I prefer to read books while lounging in the bed or while commercials are on when I’m watching my favorite shows at night.
