Anne Of Green Gables Rocks Like A Threesome With David Beckham And Will Smith…
Friday, October 5, 2007Posted in: Anne Of Green Gables, Bosom Buddies, Diana Barry, Gilbert Blythe, Josie Pye, Kindred Spirits, Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, Moody Spurgeon
I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I can’t tell you enough how much I love the Anne of Green Gables stories. They were such a huge part of my childhood.
I wish L.M Montgomery was still alive so that I could write to her, and tell her that her ‘Anne’ books really impacted me on a spiritual level whilst growing up. It probably sounds sappy, and normally I try to stay away from anything that’s likely to induce vomiting, but on this I’ll definitely make an exception.
You know, I actually think that my love of romance books probably came from reading about the exploits of Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe. Oh how I rejoiced when they finally became friends and Anne finally admitted to herself that she loved him. My little pre-teen heart fairly burst with the joy when they kissed for the first time.
Anyway, I bought the complete DVD set the other day, and watched them during my train journey to Scotland on Wednesday. I truly heart Megan Follows for ‘being’ Anne, and not butchering the story for me.
God bless you, Anne Shirley, and I’m so glad I met you during my pre-teen years. *Happy Sigh*

Me too, me too! I loved the Kevin Sullivan series and have them all also ~ except I’m not that crazy about “The Continuing Story” ~ you can tell LM Montgomery didn’t write it. I’ve actually been in an Anne Shirley mood lately and may have to watch it over the weekend.

I too adore the Anne series with Megan Follows. I have it on VHS and have yet to replace it with DVDs. I watched it sooooo many times. It’s actually perfect for Fall and rainy weather. I’ll curl up on a Saturday and watch the whole darn thing.

What’s with all the AOGG stuff I’ve seen her twice today on other blogs? I’m not going wax romantic about Anne but my oldest daughter liked the books, me I was a Nancy Drew girl myself.
HI Karen nice to see you in a laid back mood.

When my grandmother was dying, I read the Anne books to her. She had never learned to read, so all through my childhood I would read to her. She liked Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden, and Anne of Green Gables. I loved those books more because I could share them with her.

My then teenage daughter and I watched it when they had an Anne of Green Gables marathon on PBS years ago. We both loved Anne with an E. Sometimes nowdays, we will call each other bosom friends.

Oh man do I love these!!! When Gilbert was watching them from behind a tree? When they dance in the barn? Swoon worthy.
I’m so glad you gave Moody Spurgeon a shout out in your labels. My sisters and I would always shout “Moody Spurgeon” when he showed up on something else. We would also use it as a derogatory term.

I saw the movies first, back in the 80’s, and completely fell in love with the series. Megan Follows was Anne, and I love to re-read the books from time to time. Now I need to get the DVD versions of the movies myself, though I only liked the first two.

The movies introduced me to Anne, I don’t know how I missed them as a teen but I made up for them as a young adult. I read everyone of them and my hard backs are treasured. I have the movies on vhs, I need to get them on DVD.
