Posted in: random ramblings

So now I’ve got my Romance Reading Head back on, there are quite a few books I’m hoping to get through by the end of this week:

So, what books are you attempting to read, or indeed have read, this week?

  • The Sari Shop by Rupa Bajwa. Not my normal reading, but very good. (Not a romance) A depressing view of how India’s poor live.

Also just read Wildish Things by Carolan Ivey. A nice Samhain novella.

  • Here’s my list: Slow Burn by Brenda Jackson, Lilah’s List by Robyn Amos and Kiss Me All Over by Loure Bussey Jackson

I want to read your review of Morning Light… *wicked grin*

And man oh man, Strangers in Death??? *bouncing eagerly* Me want!

Otherwise, I’m in a paranormal kick–Meljean Brook, Nalini Singh, Lara Adrian, Marjorie M. Liu, etc.

  • I’m reading On the Loose now. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed the previous books by Janzen and I’m really enjoying this one. I’m also reading Creation in Death. I love, love, love Eve and Roarke and the mystery is fantastic. Excellent story so far (at the halfway point).

Just finished another Shiloh Walker–For the Love of Jazz, which was fabulous. Thought I’d branch out a bit while I wait for the JD Robb and Christine Feehan (I know, I know, but she’s a fellow Irish girl!) out later this month. So I bought a Gennita Low–she spends half the year in my hometown of Denver and I thought I would give Laura Kinsale one more try. . . Just because the SB are so totally all over her.

  • I’ve got two on the go now – 1)Savor Me Slowly by Gena Showalter (and boy it’s hard to type Savor me without that U) – which is very good so far) and 2)Riding the Storm by Sydney Croft – which I’m not far enough into yet.
I just finished Stranger in Death – loved it and an ARC of Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare – also loved it!

  • You’re going to read 8 books in one week, Karen? Boy, you’re a fast reader. I just finished something (I won’t name, but skimmed through most it) last night. I do have the new McKenna book in the pile by my bedside, did you read it yet? I heard it’s her best since Behind Closed Doors.

Reading Eileen Wilks, Night Season. Read this week: the Tara Janzen, 3,4, & 5 of the Bodyguards Series from Cindy Gerard, Diane Whiteside’s Bond of Fire, Heather Graham’s The Seance, Melanie Jackson’s Divine Night, and a nonfiction titled something like South Carolina’s BackCountry on the Eve of the Revolution. I’ve got about 8 older books and 5 new, including the Lora Leigh, waiting. And I still have Antonia Fraser’s Faith and Treason sitting beside my bed in hopes that I’ll actually finish it some day.

  • Karen- The only one on your list that I think you’ll have a problem with since we have similar reading tastes is the Catherine Anderson book. For me, it was a C-/D+.

Haven’t read Cornwell, but I’ve gotta give her a try. Reading suspense stuff right now by Kay Hooper and just started The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen. So gross, but very good thus far.

I have just read “My Fair Captain” by JL Langley and “Blue Ruin” by Katrina Strauss. Both were fab, and I am just off to cruise some e-publishers on this hot Sunday afternoon.

Great review AL! Isn’t it time you got your own blog? *g*

Anne, I bought it because she’s an autobuy for me, I have to say, I didn’t even read the blurb before I bought it, lol.

That was the intention, I’ll probably find that life gets in the way.

As for the Shannon Mckenna book, I loved it actually, and I didn’t have the same problems with it that I usually have with her books.

  • I think you got my reading mojo….sadly, I haven’t been able to read much of anything in the past 2 weeks…I think I’ve read 1 book total in that time. I miss my reading mojo!

She used to be an auto-buy for me too but the last book and then this one weren’t so good, so she’s not an auto-buy for me. I’ll get it from the library… maybe, but I won’t run out and buy it the minute it comes out like I used to.

Yes, that’s exactly how it happened with me. I couldn’t get into Sun Kissed, but got Morning Light anyway hoping for a return to the goodness. Sadly, it wasn’t to be. *shrug* I’m a fickle creature, I guess.

  • I love Catherine Anderson and that’s one book I need to get. I’m kinda scared to read it now. LOL

Sadly, Patricia Cornwell is one I don’t read anymore…even from the library. I used to love her books too. To me, though, her writing just isn’t what it used to be. :o(
