  • Here’s a trivia fact you might find interesting if you didn’t know it already.
Did you know that Milton – the made up town in North and South was really based on the city of Manchester?

Kristie, I didn’t know that, although knowing the connection between Elizabeth Gaskell, and Manchester, it’s probably not too surprising.

  • okay so I sang “Four, nil, four nil, four nil” to the tune of “Amazing Grace” right through six times last night.
    And I’m singing it now.
The boys rule. Even with Ronaldo and Tevez not playing, they stuffed the softies. Great match, and Rooney Rules.
But wasn’t the Nani/Anderson combination great? Nani developed during that match, grew in confidence.

Lynne, I’ve admired Anderson for some time now, he’s a cracking player!

As for Rooney, I love him dearly, but he should have converted at least three of his chances.

  • Nope. A friend of mine is a huge Arsenal fan (I believe he is the president of the fan club here in the US). After visiting England in the summer of 2000, I jumped on the Chelsea bandwagon. But after they “purchased” the FA title I quickly jumped off. I picked West Ham just because they are an underdog.

Yes, Karen, Rooney should have converted more chances and I’ll bet Fergie told him so!
The magic three of Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo are being compared to the Holy Trinity of Best, Law and Charlton, but they have a way to go yet. Especially Ronaldo, but since Rooney has forgiven him for that awful World Cup fiasco, I suppose I should, too. And he does wear the number seven.
Beckham was good looking and amazing with passes and free kicks, but I gave my heart years ago to the man I still miss, the King of Old Trafford.
Eric Cantona. So big, so brutish, so – French. So like the seagulls who follow the trawler, I’ll continue to yearn for King Eric.
A shame Ginola never played for United. Sex on a stick, that man. I still go to his neglected website occasionally just to hear his voice.

Yes they do, normally. But when you don’t even live in the country, it’s easier to be choosy.
