Beauty And The Beast…

And no, I’m not talking about me and Cindy Cruciger.
I’ve been watching re-runs of one of my favourite eighties series, Beauty and The Beast. You guys remember right? The lovely Vincent and the equally Lovely Catherine? I’m pretty sure I’ve done a similar post before, but it really does bare repeating. That series, show-cased the most fantastic example of chemistry between two people on screen.
Each episode I recall wondering, would this be the week when they kissed at last? The producers teased us endlessly, and whenever we thought Vincent and Catherine were going to do the deed, they’d end up embracing instead. But to be fair, even though they didn’t kiss, those scenes were ridiculously moving.
Anyway, Youtube has a whole host of vids, and I thought I’d post some of them on here, because reminiscing is so much fun. Enjoy.
Ahhh…memories. Tell me you guys remember this too, or am I just showing my age?

Karen,
Oh, I so remember Beauty and the Beast. I couldn’t wait to wait it each week. Of course, all the Beast had to do was talk in that low melodic voice and I was in love! Some of the best romance that ever hit the tube as far as I’m concerned.

I used to love this show. The LONGING between them was so palpable it almost hurt to watch it didn’t it? I was torn up for a while when it ended because they never did get together did they?
Now your making me think I should order these in DVD. I wish they made shows like this more often!!

I loved this show. One of the few in my memory that I would move heaven and earth to see.
Which is why I spent the money on the DVD’s. Although I have to save them for when my family is not home – they just don’t get it……*sigh*

Zone Romantica $ky channel 149 is repeating this every day. They must be on the third time around now. I still really love this show. I kind of feel for the actor who is better looking made up like a beast or hellboy.

I sure do remember it. You couldn’t have twisted my arm at the time to admit it, but I liked it. It was probably Linda Hamilton…that woman sure knew how to make the best out of ugly office dresses.

Oh, I loved this show! I forget how old I was and if it was already in reruns by then, but I remember watching this show and having the biggest crush on Vincent (but who didn’t?). Dammit, now I’m going to have to go look for the DVDs too.

Rae, that’s where I’ve been watching the re-runs, it’s fabulous! I saw Ron Perlman being interviewed on Youtube, and you are so right, he definitely looked better as Vincent than himself.
And YES, Vincent’s voice is wonderful! I was lookind for the DVDs, but they only seemed to have used ones on Amazon, and I hate buying used DVDs. So I’ll keep looking.

I haven’t thought about this series in years! I loved it so much, watched it faithfully, fell in love with Vincent and Catherine’s love story like so many women. *sigh*. His voice…and Shakespeare…could there be anything better? Made me all melancholy and shivery watching this. Thanks for the look back. Now I want to go and find it on DVD. 🙂

One of the reasons I adored my husband is because he really enjoyed this show too and would watch it with me every week. In fact, I think he started watching it first. I was working afternoons when it first came on and noticed he was watching a show called Beauty and the Beast when I came in the door. I had to do a double take. But I sat down and watched and was enchanted – with the show and with Ron. I’d forgotten that until just now. Thank you Karen for a wonderful memory.
And yes – his voice!!! And isn’t it a strange thing that Ron Pearlman looks better as a half lion/half man than he does normally. Very odd that. I remember when I first saw him sans make up and costume I was in denial *g*.

I adored this show, but I had a pesky little brother and everytime Vincent came on the screen he would start singing Twisted Sister songs. On the nights I watched it alone I was in love with Vincent. thank you for reminding me of this beautiful couple

I loved this show and watched it faithfully for the three seasons it was on TV. I haven’t bought the DVDs yet, but I’ve read a ton of B&B fanfic–some fantastic, some horrible. One of the best romantic couples ever.

I watched faithfully ever Friday when I was in the navy. Fell in love with Vincent. I had the soundtrack to the show. Somebody stole it, I was sick. I found it again and bought it this year. Now I need to get the DVDs.
