For Those Authors Who Feel The Need To Use Snap Preview On Their Websites…

Turn the damn thing off.
It’s a fucking pain in the arse, and it only serves to make me leave your website very quickly, without checking out your books.
Rant over.

Ditto.
I’ve hated that thing since it first popped up. It interferes with clicking and it’s just annoying in general.

It’s when you scroll over a link and get that big mini-window withe a screen cap of the site the link goes to and some extra info. Annoying as hell. I hate that thing because you can’t close it and it keeps you from clicking the bloody link.

Ehm, is it okay that I have some pop-up windows on my site but you have to click to get them to pop up?? I had hoped they’d be more like Easter Eggs than something annoying.

I’d think so. At least I actively clicked on that. Its the scroll-over-hijack-your-page Snap ones that drive ME nuts.

Jody, what Dee said–snap is irritating because you don’t have a choice AND it makes it difficult to actually click on the links, even when you want to. Easter Eggs are another matter entirely, as far as I’m concerned.

Thank you!! I hate those damn things. My blog program has them and I can’t figure out how to turn them off, and it drives me nuts that they’re on my very own blog.

Thanks for the heads-up. That way, if someone suggests I use it, I can politely decline. (Thanks for asking for a clarification, Sallah.) BTW, I love hiding Easter Eggs on my blog. 😉

Wow – I had no idea how much people hate this. I just turned it off.
If using a wordpress blog, here’s how to stop it.
Go to Design
Click Extras
Unclick the snap
Save

Jill, I had it on my blog when it first came out, but it annoyed the hell out of me so I took it off. I went on to an author’s blog, and I kept trying to click on the covers of her book, but it wouldn’t let me, and instead the snap preview images kept showing. Drove me nuts.
Also, one of the bloggers on my sidebar closed her blog down, and the images that were picked up were pornographic ones, in lieu of the old blog. Blech.

Nothing to add to the discussion, but…
If you do before September 15, there’s a free iPod Touch involved.
