I just love that title.

That’s all I wanted to say.

  • It is cool isn’t it? Don’t know if you’re just referring to the Ruth Rendell book, but the the terms for groups of birds as a whole are so whimsical. Some of my other favourites are: an exhaltation of larks, a parliment of owls, a charm of finches, a murder of crows, and a convocation of eagles.

The only reason I know/remember them is because a friend and I were trying to come up with terms for groups of sexual organs a couple of years ago, can’t remember why now, but we came up with– a panel of penises, a blister pack of breasts, a triumph of vaginas, and a cosset of asses. damn we had fun that day. Think we laughed ourselves sick. lol.

  • I just plain love Ruth Rendell. Don’t care if one of her titles is Weirdly Named Groups of Animals, with a Shifter and His Soulmate Thrown in for Good Measure. (Oh, that woman has a wonderfully perverse imagination! Good insights into human nature, too.)

  • I used the term “committee of vultures” in mine and it makes me smile every time I read it.

  • ‘Unkindness of ravens’ and ‘murder of crows’ are two of my all-time favorite terms for groups of animals!

  • Hm, how about when it comes to the people with the most power and generally least ethics? Maybe a cowpaddy of politicians?
    Just a thought 🙂
