Rumour Has It No. 4579…

…That a former RT regular has been snubbed this year, and will not be appearing on any panels during RT 2009. Not. One. Panel. Unless of course somebody cancels, and they can’t get anybody else to stand in.

Perhaps her reputation as a vindictive freakish rhinoceros proceeded her?

Oh yeah, and also, EC Gropers and strippers notwithstanding, congrats to Jane and SB Sarah, on being asked to run a blogging panel at RT.

I laughed when I received both bits of good news. You gotta smile at how things work out dontcha?

FYI, TTG and I may be going to Florida (again) for our hols that month, so you never know, I may just take one for the team and show my face.

Now wouldn’t that be interesting? *g*

  • Oooh, DO come. And if you need a place to crash, I’m sure one of us crazy ass Floridians can lend you a bed.

I need to brush up on my gossip, because I don’t know who you’re talking about. 🙁 There are quite a few vindictive freakish rhinoceri out there, ya know.

Isn’t it RWA, not RT that SB and Jane are going to?

As a side note, I’m a Florida native now living in TX, from a little town between Daytona and Orlando.

  • They’re doing RT next spring too, Che.

We went to Orlando a couple of years ago. Really liked it.

  • I really must go to the next RT. If only to deal with that rumor that I am really a guy from Alaska called Bubba.

  • That’s not FAIR. I have NO clue who you are talking about. Do you have any idea how many authors are RT panel regulars? Hmmmph!

And I think you just helped me make up my mind about going to RT next year. My only RT was Daytona in 2006, and I was debating whether to go to Orlando. The fact that it is NOT at a Hilton is an upside, and now I will “know” at least a few people that will be there.

With RT only months ago and RWA currently taking place, I wasn’t reading carefully.

Anyhow, may I ask where in Fl you’ll be going to? Are you hitting the beaches? Theme parks?

We’ll probably do all the theme parks, Clear Water, Busch Gardens, we stayed in one of the corporate hotels last time (after being moved from a crappy tourist hotel) on International Drive. (Orlando, that is) I think we’ll do Miami this time too.

  • Oh, there’s chance I might get to meet you? Woot!!

I’m going to RT next year, also. Not staying at the conference hotel, (staying at the Hilton down the way. The DH plans to do some golfing while I conference) but will be there every day!

Test of True Love: will he accompany you to a RT conference? It would be interesting to know how many husbands have done that over the years. For those that go to TR regularly, do you ever see husbands there and – if so – do they seem more romantic than the average husband?

  • Well hell, that decides it. I’m going to RT next year if Jane AND Sarah will be there. Oh yes indeedy I will. Wonder if I can get on the same plane as Jane….hmmm….

  • Man, Karen, that’s mean. Who in the world are you talking about????

  • I have seen a few hubbies at various conferences, and to me they always look like they’re having a grand ole time. But I suspect there are 8x that many hubbies hiding in the room or sightseeing :).

  • LOL, blind items are only fun if you’re in the know. Damn it, I’m on a deadline and I poke my head out and see this and I don’t have any idea. Grr. Now I’ll have to go look at the brochure again to see who’s missing.

Last year, Anya Bast’s husband attended (and I know he’s gone in the past too) and I think he had a great time. I think my husband would dig the female attention and it would be nice to have him to lug stuff around for me and all – but I think he’d be happier at home.

I hope you do make an appearance!

  • Yes, I was also wondering about the husbands. Mine wants to come with, but I’m afraid he’ll get too bored if I’m always out and about.

Well, Orlando isn’t a one horse town if mass quantities of romance writers and drunken cover models aren’t his cuppa. There are quite a few ways for him to amuse himself, and other places aren’t too far either, like Tampa or Daytona.
