How many books did you buy in January?
Me? I bought a measly six books. Six. Books. For the whole damned month.
I can’t figure out if it’s because I’m trying to spend less, or if there simply aren’t good enough books out there.
Sheesh. Talk about depressing.
TBR pile, here I come.

I think I prolly bought about 6 as well, but I read at least 20. Many of the books I would have bought were given to me to review, so I’m not sure how skewed those numbers are.

3-Instant Attraction, Second Chance Pass and Warning Signs. I’ve only read one of those so far. No time!!!

I only bought one. And it is ONLY because I am trying to save money. (I have a funny feeling that my company is going to be laying off again, and I won’t survive this time.) There are plenty of that I think are great. Just don’t have the funds to purchase them.

Oh, no, you made me check my database and now I feel bad. I bought 125 books, all used, and almost all OOP, of which I read 20 in January. A considerable number came off ebay in lots where I really only wanted 1 or 2 books.
I was willing to buy new, but the only purveyors of books in town (Walmart, CVS, Kroger, Walgreens) did not carry the titles I was interested in.
I’m going to the big city this weekend and hopefully I can find a few of the new titles I’m looking for.

I only got 3 last month. While doing the new budget in late December, we printed off last years budget report. We were so very far over-budget it is rather embarrassing. Anyway, I am doing my best to cut down.
I also didn’t see that many new books that I wanted to read.

5 books from the Sharon Cullars auction and a theoretical handful of ebooks. Okay, then there was Amazon and the trip to Borders…
Okay, when I’m under stress I buy books and January was one of the most stressful months of my life.

I think I purchased maybe 6 or 7 books, slim picking for me not a lot of my auto-buys are releasing later in the year, also four of the books I did buy were of the series romance kind, Harlequin Silh.

I bought 2. 2. There is a serious lack of good books coming out this year, or rather, a serious lack of variety. My faith in publishing is going down the tubes, and its probably why I am now leaning toward e books only.

In January? About 5, I guess. Don’t ask for Feb. I might need a new shelf just for Feb…

Vain, my list for 2009 has something on it for every month, except December and I’m sure there will be many more added to the list throughout the year. But I know that feeling (when I got that way I stopped reading new romance for 6-7 years). I do read a disproportionately large number of old to very old books, because they do see to hit the spot better than a lot of the currently published works. Not sure why.

Vain–just curious, but were those 2 print books or ebooks? Cause I got the feeling you weren’t counting e’s. 🙂

I just read yet another out of print author on Josh Lanyon’s recommendation. I am stunned! This thing was written in 1970 and someone out there was already miles ahead with a down to earth Gay Detective with romantic elements.
So even though I have not seen anything out eBook wise recently that I want I am happy to have time to catch up on what I missed.

I bought seven new books and four used. The awful thing is that life’s been so hectic I haven’t had time to read even one in the last month. My TBR is filled with tantalizing books and all I can do is stare longingly at them. *g*
I agree with Growly Cub…I really enjoy my old reads from the 70s and 80s. They still give me the warm fuzzies.

3 Skippyjohn Jones children’s books, a hardback about herbal remedies, a bunch of comic books (hubby bought those, not me, but it’s part of our family budget), and a Robin Owens trade paperback.

Count me in for about maybe twelve–although five of them were YA books for my granddaughters. But I think I’m passing my quota in February, and I have no idea why, because I’m not even close to finishing January’s buys. The TBR pile has taken on a life of it’s own. I think my house is going to fall over . . .

Probably around 12-14. I’d have to check out the receipts to be sure as I put back a couple for spring reading.

None.
I acquired about a dozen from free sources (Robert Lewis Stevenson from Project Gutenberg, the Baen free library), checked out a number from the library, but I didn’t buy any.
This will change for February and March, when I plan to buy about 50 books. (my own, mostly for resale at readings and conventions)

Although I read 30 books, I only bought five. I moved in December and now have two fantastic libraries from which to borrow books. It’s wunnerful!
