I get such a charge everytime I see a picture of the First Family, the President, or the First Lady. No matter what anyone says, our President gives me such hope and makes me proud to be an American.
They do look happy. I love seeing pics of them, all together or just one of them with the kids or them with each other. The love is always so tangible. That’s a family that truly adores each other and it’s beautiful to see.
I think my favorite is this one picture of Obama whispering something in Michelle’s ear, grinning, and she’s laughing and it’s just so adorable and intimate.
I agree with Fae. You can always tell that this is a family with plenty of love to spare. I can’t think of a better example to set for the nation (or the world) than a family that doesn’t compromise on love.
Absolutely gorgeous. Their smiles are just brilliant.
My daughter’s boyfriend is driving in a motorcade tomorrow in Florida and will get a meet & greet with the President. He’s just out of his mind excited. (He’s the pres of the young Democrats at their college. Daughter is the treasurer…she desperately wanted to go, too, but she’s getting over swine flu and is terrified of making him sick…lol!)
Rush Limbaugh is a dumb ass. He ran with a story that supposedly found an essay Obama wrote in college on why the constitution was crap or something. Come to find out the essay was a satire piece not written by Obama at all. Even with the egg on his face Limbaugh reiterated that This is what Obama really thinks, so who cares it’s satire, and not written by Obama IT’S REAL.
Long story short, the Limbaugh’s of the world will always find something to complain about and how it’s Un-American and ruining this great country. Gag me.
I hope they stay as happy and beautiful as they are now. Life has a way of destroying happiness. Let’s hope that isn’t the case with our President and his lovely family.
I think it is a beautiful picture, and I can say that as a staunch Conservative. I don’t believe in denigrating anyone regardless of whether or not they agree with my views. Too many people do that in today’s society, and I personally believe there’s room in this world for all views.
I do have a question for Karen, though. Why couldn’t you have posted this picture without adding the unnecessary negativity? You have no proof this picture will be treated as fodder for negative comments.
I do understand this is your blog, and, as such, you can say what you want to say. I’m just curious as to why people feel they need to take digs at one another when they have no way of knowing if what they’ve suggested will take place. Isn’t that akin to expecting the worst?
Maybe I’m being Mary Poppins, but does there have to be so much hatred within the different parties? What is the purpose of that? To see who can outhate? To see who can say the vilest thing about the other party?
I just don’t understand, and the more I read on the internet, the more I wish people could see that we’re all just beating our heads against a brick wall if we expect others to believe we’re right and they’re wrong.

Katie, no disrespect intended but haver you listened to Limbaugh and Hannity lately, because if you had, I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t have asked that question.
And if you had listened to them and still felt the need to ask that question, well I can only presume that you don’t see anything wrong with their rhetoric. And that would be too sad for words. Your president was born in Hawaii, but these freaks insist that he’s not a real American FFS.
I still have the tune to ‘Obama The Magic Negro’ ringing in my head for God’s sake. I’m happy to say that had one of our British broadcasters displayed such racist contempt, he would have been fired from his job, and rightly so.
Unfortunately for conservatives in the US, the shrill voices of Hannity, Limbaugh, Coulter, and Malkin, are the loudest, thus whenever I personally think of the GOP party, they are the first people who come to mind. Freaking extreme rightwing nutjobs.
My point wasn’t about Hannity or Limbaugh or whether I find anything wrong with what they say. It was simply a matter of the constant spewing and nastiness between the parties.
I’m sure the conservatives probably feel the same way about the liberal commentators as liberals feel about conservative ones. And, personally, I don’t think the constant people bashing is necessary.
We all have opinions, but do people have to be labeled because of those opinions? So what if someone’s opinion doesn’t agree with mine? It doesn’t mean I should call them nutjobs or any other name that comes to mind.
I firmly believe that if we lower ourselves to calling people nasty names, we only lose our own dignity. There is a way to express an opinion without resorting to name-calling.

Well…yeah. If I started spewing racist ideologies around, I think one could attach the label of ‘racist bitch’ to me. If I opined that relationships between two people of the same sex was disgusting and wrong, then I should expect to be labelled as homophobic. Don’t you agree?

And this is too close to, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. That’s not really a mode of conduct that I prescribe to. And I can assure you that calling the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity bastards doesn’t affect my dignity one way or the other.

It is beautiful.
I usually can’t stand anything the First Lady wears, but she looks lovely in that dress.
Seeing the First family always puts a smile on my face.
