This story has been bothering me for months now and it finally boiled over:

Asshole cheating drug using pastor claims that therapy has cured him of his “urges” to use male prostitutes.

I call utter and absolute bullshit on the whole thing.

You cannot cure who you are.

Blame abuse all you want if it makes you feel better, but don’t belittle so many people’s sexuality just because you can’t accept who you are.

Maybe the therapy just cured him of his urge to use prostitutes. He now plans to try to get laid for free.

  • That reminds me of a certain House episode.

  • You have to understand, these people do not believe in gayness as an identity. Gay isn’t something you ARE. Gay acts are something you do.

Ergo, stopping the behaviors is, to them, tantamount to a cure.

    It’s an entirely different worldview.

The folks at Focus on the Family with whom he was (is?) loosely affiliated do believe in setting quit dates (do you think they heard the pun?–probably not) and stopping being gay just like you’d stop drinking or smoking. I kid you not.

But, seriously, as a pastor (even of sorts) shouldn’t he be crediting God with his miraculous cure?

    Amen, AL.

If you can believe God created Heaven and Earth…if you can believe God created Man and Woman…

Why in heaven’s sake can you not believe in evolution, homosexuality, science and the like?

Did he make big oopsies on those points? I think not.

Oh, of course, all of that is attributed to Satan. The cast out. If I mess up, satan made me do it.

I chose long ago to say no to all the religious craziness. I believe in God and have no faith whatsoever in the humans preaching it. Whatever the religion.

  • @Anon76: that is exactly what my husband (who was born to a Jewish family) and myself (born to a Roman Catholic one) decided was to be our religious “choice”. Too many contradictions in religion (of course, all created by the humans preaching it to conform their own convenience or to match their respective degrees of delusional insanity).
