No Uterus Left Behind & Contraception Means You’re A Slut: Brought To You By The Letters G.O.P…

I know I’ve said it loads of times, but gosh I am so glad I live in Britain, where quite frankly, our politicians (left and right) have no interest in my uterus, never mind trying to tell me what I should do with it. They have more important things to talk about, such as trying to get us out of the economic hole that we’re in.
What I want to know is where is the united “hell no!” from American women? (Not you women of Oklahoma, I saw the “If I wanted the government in my womb, I’d fuck a senator” banner) Why aren’t there placard-bearing feministas all over America, collectively decrying the attempt by a bunch of middle-aged white men to push through measures that seek to restrict their right to do what they want to with their own bodies? Why are conversations about the female reproductive system happening at government level, with no females in the room? Where are the women bandying together to tell the white haired wrinklies in congress, that this is not within their jurisdiction?
What almost never ceases to amaze me is that a bunch of lunatics who are forever banging on about Big Government being the worst thing since Hitler, don’t see the hypocrisy in trying to control something as intensely personal as a woman’s uterus.
I read the other day that some cuntmonkey Republican wants to overturn Roe v Wade, citing that it was unconstitutional? What the actual fuck?
It seems to me that the Repugnant Party are happy to refer to The Constitution every two minutes to suit their own agendas, yet they are just as quick to call for changes for parts of it that doesn’t mesh with their fucked up ideologies.
Between the senate trying to block women’s access to birth control, and Rush ‘I’m A Big Fat Cunt’ Limbaugh calling a young women a slut because she uses birth control, my mind is totally blown. Is this what the Republican Party has come to? Being corralled and led into an extremism that rivals those of Islamic fundamentalists?
For those of you who don’t know, this is what that twat Rush Limbaugh said about the student who was denied the right to speak at the controversial contraception congressional hearing.
“Can you imagine if you were her parents how proud…you would be?” he said. “Your daughter … testifies she’s having so much sex she can’t afford her own birth control pills and she wants President Obama to provide them, or the Pope.”
“What does it say about the college co-ed Susan Fluke [sic] who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex — what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex.”
Can you believe that this guy gets paid millions to spread his campaign of misogyny, hate, and rampant intolerance? In my country, he’d have been taken off the air so fast, his fat ass would have left skidmarks in the DJ seat.
This is no longer the Republican party of Abraham Lincoln or even God rest his soul, Ronald Reagan, no the GOP now belongs to Messrs Bachmann, Santorum, Perry, and Palin. The mostly-sane arm of the GOP made a deal with the devil, and the devil is collecting. With interest.
The lunatics are definitely running that asylum.

Oh, trust me… we’re disgusted with it. I’ve spoken up about it and I’ll be doing it again come election day.

Well, the backlash has been so substantial… that the waste of space Limbaugh just issued an apology. He definitely needs to be taken off the air, though. Sadly, the radical right ADORES him.

The backlash against Susan G. Komen was huge and this Rush story is huge this time. What I’m more worried about is these radicals quietly passing laws legislating and putting ridiculous rules around getting an abortion and access to birth control and creating laws that say eggs and sperm are persons. I mean what the fuck?
But really, I think what’s going on is that many women/ people don’t know the extent of what’s really going on.
For instance, the SOPA law that tried to get passed and NDAA laws that basically take away all rights to any American who might be considered a terrorist, which at this point even Occupy people are being called, was NOT even mentioned on the news. I’m so shocked that Americans don’t even know about that. Of course my twitter feed was outraged.
Susan G. Komen barely got a blip on the local news, etc.
And hard to believe but while many are on FB, less mainstream people are on Twitter, where a lot of news gets passed around that you’d never be exposed to. I mean if I relied on my local news alone or even just news stories on Yahoo or such, I’d miss tons of info.
But the good thing is that social sites like Twitter give movements a swift and vast voice and change can happen as we saw an instant boycott of companies sponsoring Rush.
But seriously, I feel like I went to sleep a few years ago and woke up in the 50’s.

I just love how the party of “we don’t want big government” is proposing and supporting MEGA INTRUSIVE legislation. I just can’t get over the way things work in the US.

There are always crazies who have opinions like this, so I don’t find the fact that someone said these things particularly disturbing. What I do find frightening is that the American media presents it as being a rational contribution to American culture that is worthy of debate.
Someone tweeted to Margaret Atwood (and she re-tweeted):”Saw a public librarian today reshelving @MargaretAtwood’s Handmaid’s Tale. Moved it from Science Fiction to Current Events.” I don’t think the Librarian’s alone in her concerns about where American culture is heading.

What is sad though is that you have women who back this kind of crap. You should take a peak at the romantic times forums-esp the political forums. Some of the most racist, homophobic, and anti-women posts take place there. Also in my local paper there was a letter from a woman stating she was tired of all the talk about woman’s rights, she was more than happy to have men make all the decisions for her. No matter how alien this seems to me, there are those type of people out there.

Woof. Please. A 65 year old man can get viagra to run around on his wife with young chickies, but a young chickie faced with both horny young men and horny old men can’t get some protection?
No, take ye to the convent. (Then we men will pick and choose which of you we want to be our brides and bear our children as we do as we want.)
Really? Really?
