It was all quiet, then Anne Rice opened her mouth

Many of our readers are aware of Anne Rice’s increasingly strange behaviour, claiming that she doesn’t need an editor, that readers who write negative reviews hate her, sending her fanboys and girls to attack a blogger because she dared use pages of her book Pandora (after writing a fairly negative review of it) for a craft project, and over all being a huge drama queen with a large platform and little common sense.

Ms Rice, not content with the fact that her opinion is sought less and less often, is not shy about sharing it as loudly as she can.

Today I was made aware that while posting that she ‘knows nothing and has no opinion,’ in truth Anne Rice is chiding anyone speaking in support of DA or JL, and claiming that EC will have its day in court. Funny, I thought it was the people accused who had their day in court to prove their innocence. Further, I thought that in defamation cases, is the people doing the accusing who have to prove there is defamation.

Still, not surprised to see Anne Rice talking out of her ass again. It’s become her schtick, yes?

I have to say that I was a “fan” (but not a “fangirl”) of her VC since the 1990s. Sadly, it was rather noticeable when she dropped her editor. By the time “Blood Canticle” (touted at the time as the last book in the chronicles) came out, I couldn’t go past its third chapter. Anne Rice is quite verbose and her writing style is not for everyone, if we add no editing, you can gues where the verbosity goes. smh

She probably wants EC to win the case because Dear Author has written about Anne Rice… and not in gushing terms. She probably views DA as a “bully blog”, so yeah, I can see why she’s talking out of her ass in favor of EC.

  • When you have an author use STGRB site as a ‘serious’ source, anything else they say is suspect.

When the author doing this has been showing her ass in public consistently for years…

Sometimes I try to stay away from learning anything about favorite authors because it sort of tarnishes the experience a bit (at least for me). Anne Rice’s behavior most definitely hasn’t motivated me to try and read any of her work published over the past 10 years or so to see if it was better than the mega-dissapointment her last three books in the VC turned out to be.

  • @Mireya: You know how we often talk about supporting authors by buying their books? (And by ‘we’ I mean, this is something that often comes up in many of the blogs I read, most usually in the comments).

Well, I feel it’s the same type of thing. I’d rather know that someone is a complete, flaming asshole with an oozing boil of racism, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, etc. so that I can avoid putting any of my hard earned money in their pockets, no matter how little it may be.
